VW T4 Heat Shield Over the Rear Muffler - Heat Protection Plate

The VW T4 heat shield above the rear muffler has been completed today as a 3D project. Scanning and reconstruction in Fusion 360 took a total of 8 hours, but the result is impressive. The drill holes and mounting points are modeled after the original with an accuracy of 0.2 mm. Some areas were even optimized to prevent problems in the later manufacturing process.

If anyone is wondering why there are no soft radii: The final material has not yet been determined, and this will define the radii later.

Currently, the following materials are under consideration:

1. Aluminum
2. Galvanized steel sheet (0.5 mm)
3. Stainless steel V2 (0.5 mm)

We are currently leaning towards aluminum, as the tooling for this heat shield will be relatively large and costs need to remain manageable. I am aware that many prefer stainless steel, but keep in mind that you will have to pay for it later.
