The sunroof of the VW T4 is an important comfort feature for many drivers – until the small gear in the motor fails. The original part with part number 701959731C can fail after many years, as the plastic loses strength due to ageing, heat and UV exposure.
In addition, stiff-running mechanics, e.g. due to dirty or insufficiently lubricated rails, can lead to increased load on the gear. This can result in blocked or jerky sunroof movement.
This gear has been reconstructed true to the original and manufactured using industrial SLA on a Formlabs system. A specially selected engineering resin is used, designed for dimensional accuracy, temperature resistance and consistent material properties, and suitable for use in the sunroof motor.
Thanks to the precise manufacturing, accurate-fit installation is possible, allowing the gear to be used as a replacement for the original part.
To ensure long-term function, the sunroof should be maintained regularly. Clean, well-lubricated guide rails help avoid unnecessary load on the gear.
This replacement part is intended to restore sunroof function and is for drivers who value clean fit and reliable mechanics.
