Intake duct for turbocharger – reproduction, suitable for VW T4

As many VW T4 vehicles age, a well-known issue occurs: The original intake duct in front of the turbocharger has not been available for years. The polypropylene originally used can become brittle or deform over time due to thermal load in the engine bay, which often leads to leaks. Possible consequences include loss of performance and, in unfavourable cases, possible consequential damage to the turbocharger.

Note: The O-ring (43 × 3 mm) on the turbocharger is not included.

Our solution: reconstruction using modern technology

To solve this problem, the intake duct was redesigned and technically further developed. The original part was digitised using a 3D scan and fully rebuilt in CAD. Precise measurements on the turbocharger enable accurate-fit installation and a secure seat without an additional clamp.

From reconstruction to replacement part

Development is based on precise 3D scans and functional prototypes manufactured on a Formlabs Form 4. The final part offers increased temperature resistance and optimised internal flow conditions. The transition to the turbocharger was reinforced by design to support long-term reliable sealing.
